FlightAware Blog Home    FlightAware: A Year in Review 2025

This year, we proudly celebrated our 20th anniversary—two decades of delivering real-time, global aviation intelligence to our customers and users around the world. Together, we’ve tracked more than 69 million flights* and continued to expand the reach and reliability of our network.

Thanks to our incredible ADS-B community, FlightAware has surpassed 40,000 active FlightFeeders®, growing from 37,304 to 41,296* in the past year and increasing our global coverage from 116.253 million km² to 117.761 million km²*. With representation in 198 countries and more than 294 million positions processed every hour*, our network is stronger and more global than ever.

Our digital presence continues to accelerate, with 22.81 million monthly users227 million monthly pageviews, and 2.4 million app downloads year-to-date. We’re honored that travelers, aviation professionals, and enthusiasts continue to trust FlightAware as their go-to source for flight tracking and operational insight.

Notable events this year:

  • We launched the new FlightAware® home page—the first step in our website modernization efforts to make insights more accessible and improve the overall user experience.
  • Enhanced historical data became available to customers in AeroAPI®. We added four new resources enabling easy access to all flight history arriving at or departing from an airport of interest or for an operator of interest, including flights dating back to January 1, 2011. View more details here.
  • Continued data quality improvements by leveraging ARINC 424 aeronautical data in new ways. The work continues into 2026 to leverage the navigation data.
  • Significant advancements in Hyperfeed to improve our data-quality including flight delay cancellations, cleaner handling of flight matching (reduced dupes), reduction of false cancels, and clear communication of cancel reinstates.
  • We launched our new checkout process, reducing our technical debt and providing a secure, modern, and streamlined customer experience.
  • We expanded our first-class map experiences beyond web and iOS with the addition of an Android integrated map SDK.
  • We launched our airport integrated mapping solution, extending our single flight capabilities to entire airports, including surface and airborne aircraft. A first look at the new maps launched at the 2025 NBAA and ACI-NA shows.

  • FlightAware completed a major six-month initiative to relocate our entire production environment from our original Houston data center to a new facility in Denver. This move improves reliability, scalability, and long-term growth capacity, transitioning ~400 servers and network devices with no significant customer impact.
  • We introduced GeoAlerts, a new capability that delivers real-time alerts when an aircraft enters or exits any user-defined area—such as a weather system, TFR, de-ice pad, or entire IFR region. Initially available through AeroAPI webhooks, GeoAlerts makes integration simple. We partnered with OpsCore™ Flight Tracking as our first internal customer to adopt this functionality.
  • This fall, we unveiled our newest premium maps - elevating accuracy, reliability, and global coverage. Delivering a smarter, more predictive mapping experience for our customers.
  • We now detect flight go-arounds in real time. Firehose customers can be immediately notified when a flight of interest executes a go-around, enabling enhanced situational awareness and more informed operational decision-making by anticipating downstream impacts and adjusting resources accordingly. Time of go-around and altitude are included with the notification.

Thank you to our customers, partners, and global community for fueling our growth and innovation. We look forward to continuing this journey together in the new year!
