Hello FlightAware network!

We wanted to share some modernization work that the FlightAware team has been busy with along with showcasing our featured host PiAware host for September.

New FlightAware Airport Map Experience

The FlightAware team has been working to modernize the FlightAware website that you all know and love, beginning with all new airport surface maps. While the updates are currently in Beta, you can explore the new airport map experience now.

As a host in the FlightAware ADS-B network, you play an important role in powering these maps. If you can enhance coverage at an airport, please apply or a refer someone to apply for a FlightFeeder and reference the September ADS-B newsletter.

Featured Host of the Month

This month’s featured host is karman85. He joined the FlightAware network as a PiAware host in October 2023. He shared his impressive custom-built setup overlooking Valencia, Spain and is currently ranked in the top 15 best performing receivers in the country.

Contains a Stratum 1 GPS time server all enclosed in a custom built metal outdoor enclosure. The antenna is located on top of a 7 story building and has a 360 degree view of Valencia, Spain and a view of Valencia Airport (LEVC).

Set your ADS-B Alerts

As a reminder, you can be notified via email or iOS whenever your receivers need your attention. Events such as your receiver going offline, your receiver suddenly stops sending flight data to FlightAware, or your receiver recently rebooted are supported. We encourage you to keep your receivers online and be quick to respond to issues in order to keep the ADS-B network healthy.

Help increase our coverage!

Our ADS-B network spans across 194 countries on all 7 continents thanks to you all. Our goal is to expand our terrestrial ADS-B coverage across the entire world, especially around airports to improve our surface coverage. If you or someone you know has connections to airports and FBO’s or live in areas where we lack coverage, we’d love to send you a FlightFeeder! You can apply for one here. If we already have coverage in your area, you can still contribute to FlightAware by building your own PiAware. It’s a fun little weekend project!
